Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleaning

Woman smiling during dental checkup and teeth cleaning visit

The American Dental Association recommends visiting your dentist every six months for a checkup and cleaning to keep your teeth and gums healthy. That’s why these visits are typically completely covered by dental insurance plans! During your routine checkup and cleaning, our dental hygienist and dentist will work together to examine and professionally clean your mouth. During this visit, we’ll take X-rays of the area that lies below your gums and conduct a thorough visual inspection of your oral cavity. Afterward, our dental hygienist will remove all plaque and tartar from the surface of your teeth and polish them, leaving your smile bright, refreshed and healthy.

Oral Cancer Screening

Every six months, during your checkup and cleaning, we’ll also conduct an oral cancer screening. This disease has the potential to become deadly if it has a chance to progress and spread to other areas of the body. With regular screenings, we aim to keep that from happening. During the process, we'll conduct a visual and tactile inspection of your mouth, lips and throat for any signs of the disease. If he spots anything suspicious, our dental office will refer you for additional testing.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a mineral produced naturally by rocks. It can also be found in a variety of other elements and objects, such as water, air, and fresh fruits and vegetables. In the early 1900s, cities began adding more of it to local water sources when they found out that it can actually prevent cavities from forming by strengthening the enamel of teeth. If you don’t receive enough of it, it could cause your enamel to become underdeveloped, leaving your pearly whites susceptible to decay. In these cases, we may suggest a fast and pain-free fluoride treatment to ward off the threat of this common oral problem.

Nightguards for Grinding

Do you wake up with a sore jaw or a dull headache and wonder why? These are common signs that you’re grinding and clenching your teeth while you sleep. This condition, also known as bruxism, is incredibly common among people who have had jaw injuries in the past, bite misalignment, or even a restoration that has been incorrectly placed. When left unchecked, it could result in broken, chipped or worn-down teeth. To keep that from happening, we offer custom-fitted nightguards for bruxism that are made from a durable, cushioned acrylic that you can wear each night.
